COLLEGE LIFE

Write a short essay describing how college life in the U.S. differs from college life in your home country.

Although I haven’t been as an undergraduate in the U.S., I can describe differences between college life in the U.S and college life in my country as a graduate. I think it doesn’t make a difference.

College life in Turkey always postponed and was interfered in many ways in last century. As a matter of fact that College life and democracy development has overlapped in my country. Hence, politician always has tried to influence and get benefit from (exploit) College Community. Since, College students and academics inherently oppose to current administration, politicians who held power have restricted academics freedom. After last military coup that was in 1980, many academics were arrested and prohibited from academic activities. Then, students and academics have found distinct academic ambiance after September 12, 1980. Politicians have expected academic communities to not involve politics. Therefore, college life in Turkey was impressed by politicians and armed powers. Academics and students were not able to freely state their idea.
Besides, there are tremendous differences when we compare those two college lives

WHAT IF?

if Marxism had been first adopted in Western Europe instead of in Russia, United States would be ruled by Communist Goverment. Unites States and its Europen Allies would struggle Countries that follow Capitalism during Cold War. In the 1950's, Senator McCarty would hunt decent people who were suspected to be Capitalist. People who attempt free enterprise would be arrested, since they violate the rules of Communism. United States would have just one political party (Communist Party) that hold whole capital in the country. Because Enron would not have existed, Enron scandal would not have happened. Probably, Cuba would have been a capitalist country. Many American entrepreneurs would have escaped to Cuba in order to live freely. The NBA would not have existed and the team that is supported by Communist Party would always win the games.

Intstead of Suburbia, we would have had Grey apartments with ten stories that were allocated by communist party. On the bright side, Gas price would never have increased. On the other hand, People might now suffer from gas shortage.

The Union of Soviet Capitalist Republics (USCR) would have considerably developed compared to Europe Countries. Poor Communist West Germany would have separated from West Block and declared joining with wealthy East Germany. After West Block countries which Romania, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary would have separated from the block and accepted Capitalism.

REVIEW
A good documentary should give all background occurrences about the issue and prepare and warm up the audience for main topic. In that point, Bowling for Columbine has jumped to matters that seemed to be unrelated. According to film maker's style, all incidents might be chained each other, but documentary has appeared a little disorderly for a good documentary.
Secondly, Objectiveness is considerably precise for audience. If film director tries to manupulate the audience, people immediately comprehends this manipulation.
A talented documentary director should keep away from much comment, instead he should have experts talk in the documentary. Bowling for Columbine suffers from a lack of some expertise, instead, it has given a forum for many negative opinions.
On the other hand, some documentaries push people to reveal their opinion as the film makers guide. Some badger the people who do not serve the documentary's purpose. We can not exactly say that Columbine harrassed people, but like Charlton Heston's interview, it sometimes showed a little bit aggression. A good documentary has to influence and hit the audience so they will be able to talk about the documentary along days and weeks. Bowling for Columbine had very sentimental impact that's why it succeed and obtained a lot of awards. I believe that since the documentary is successful, it should link events. Sometimes, BFC has weaken the chain of incidents. Micheal Moore might have tried to send a political message and exhibited the conflict between a singer(Marlyn Manson) and a politician (Bill Clinton). But, I cannot see a relationship between Kosova Bombing and Columbine Massacre except timing. It must be an irony which is coincidental.
Besides, A good documentary should claim strong evidence based academic and scientific studies. BFC has sometimes exaggerated the relationship among matters. For exampe, It claims that white people have got armed and escaped to suburbia since they were scared from black people. But, Second Amendment has given a right white people to carry a gun for 300 years, needless to say, three century ago, white people were not able to be scared from black people.
